MORE OLD TRICKS

ONE OF THE OLDEST BOBBER TRICKS, BUT STILL A GOOD ONE.   SHAVE AND POLISH THOSE THICK ALUMINUM D-RINGS.   I USE A SANDER TO SHAVE THE FINS OFF AND THEN POLISH.    THE FINS REALLY DON'T DO ANYTHING, FOR LOOKS ONLY.   BACK IN THE SEVENTIES I CAST MY OWN ALUMINUM PARTS.   ONE OF THESE WAS A ONE PIECE ALUMINUM PAN COVER WITH BUILT IN D-RING.   ABOUT THE SAME TIME PERIOD CYCLE ENGINEERING CAME OUT WITH THEIR FINNED ALUMINUM COVERS.    THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO COOL BETTER BECAUSE OF THE FINS.   I TESTED THIS BY INSTALLING A TEMP. GAUGE IN BOTH MINE AND THEIRS.   RAN THEM FOR A WEEK OR SO, SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH, NO DIFFERENCE.....   ANYWAY, THE POINT IS THE TWO LITTLE FINS ON THE STOCK D-RING DO NOTHING, SHAVE AWAY..........RR

DRESS UP

DRESSIN' OUT YOU RIG WITH CHROME ACORN NUTS STARTED BACK IN THE 1930'S .   STILL POPULAR TODAY.   OF COURSE NOW-A-DAYS STAINLESS IS READILY AVAILABLE, MY FAVORITE.   COLONY MACHINE HAS BEEN MAKING THEIR SHOW BIKE KITS SINCE THE 70'S.   THESE GO FOR AROUND $250.00 DEPENDING ON WHAT BIKE.   I PREFER TO DO MY OWN FROM STAINLESS.   WHICH EVER WAY YOU GO, A FEW CUSTOM NUTS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE ON YOUR BIKES APPEARANCE.
